I can hardly believe it's happening, rather than send my 2 necklaces to the USA and risk them breaking in the post I am going to take them in person!
It's going to be an interesting experience as I am travelling for the first time on WoW Air, an Icelandic company operating out of Reykjavik. I fly out from Gatwick on October 2nd and change at Reykjavik landing in Pittsburgh. It's a budget airline so I had to pay extra for my bags. No food, no drink and no entertainment included but that's ok I can take food with me and catch up on my viewing on my tablet. I've spoken to a couple of people who have flown with them and they said it is fine as long as you know what to expect. It will be quite nice to have a break and stretch my legs on such a long journey anyway.
I am so lucky, Leslie Kaplan who I met at past Gatherings - the annual conventions of glass beadmakers which I have been lucky enough to attend a few times, has invited me to stay with her and pick me up from the airport.
I get to attend the opening reception on Friday 6th October and see my own work on display and all the other entries a the Pittsburgh Glass Centre.
